Hello Summer

November 23, 2014

Although summer hasn’t officially started yet, judging by the temperatures over the past week I think we can safely say that summer has arrived.  Although (unlike Nicky) I’m not a huge fan of the heat (unless of course I’m lazing by the pool with a cocktail and a seriously good read) I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming summer break.

Today at HQ we thought we’d indulge in a bit of summer love and share our coveted finds for the season.  Bright, beachy, fresh and fun, they all shout “summer” to us and can’t help but put you in a holiday mood.  Some possible ideas for Christmas gifts too – yup, only four and a bit weeks away…please tell me how that happened??!!

We love these boho hanging baskets (try Byron Bay Hanging Chairs for similar), just perfect for lazy summer days –

Moteef’s gorgeous outdoor cushions are fresh and modern with a touch of the exotic in their designs. Perfect for adding some splashes of colour to your outside space –

Bright and punchy we adore these limited-edition sun umbrellas by Basil Bangs –

Vibrant stripes with pops of neon in these 100% cotton hand-loomed towels by Sunny Jim.  Versatile too – you can use them as a beach towel, sarong, picnic blanket, tablecloth or even a throw –

There’s so much fabulous bedding around right now (see our spring blog on bedlinen) and one of our favs is Mister Zimi’s reversible duvet cover which features a bold geometric pattern on one side and a sunkissed design on the other –

We also love Mrs Darcy for their funky florals and pretty patterns that are just bursting with colour (below is bedding from their Chameleon SS14 collection) –

Lumiere Art + Co’s lovely painted canvas buckets are perfect for keeping things tidy (and for all those annoying bits and pieces you just never know where to put)! Pictured are Mint Petal and Copper Dot –

Aren’t these divine?  Faceted dishes by Misskelly Made in Tasmania –

I had a bright green vinyl beanbag when I was a child (it was the 70s…) and I’ve loved them ever since!  These are by Kip & Co from their One Fine Day Spring Summer ’14 collection which is all about “fun, playfulness and appreciating the Aussie coastline” – and don’t they just!

This one’s for you mini-BedNest no 1 (Nicky’s 8 yr old who is a mad keen surfer).  Nothing says ‘the beach’ more than a surfboard and we love the ‘Flamingo’ by Sibella Court for McTavish
